MY ART

Art is my language where I stumble over words, my therapy when no one but I alone can solve certain inner conflicts, my hobby in which I have the ultimate freedom to do things as I please, and by all means, my work where I aim to share my perspective to others and inspire them.

I have been a mixed media artist all my life. Ever since I was a child, I felt the need to create art with drawing being my favourite activity. I have never been good at expressing myself with words. Every time I tried to verbally express myself, I was misunderstood. Having ADHD and bipolar disorder was not particularly helpful either. Art was not only a fun hobby, it was and still is my way of expressing myself and distracting myself from the chaos within.

MY INSPIRATION

My artistic inspiration can come from anything. Sometimes the inspiration comes from past or present life experiences, a personal feeling or emotion, a particular place or object, a (specific) person or nature and our existence in general. Outer space and our beautiful night skies are my greatest inspiration. I have a restless mind and can never settle down or relax properly. I do not experience this as a positive trait, but the fact that this motivates me to spend a lot of alone-time in nature is definitely positive. My chaotic mind, combined with the tranquillity of nature, provides my brain with many unique ideas. Nature has so many unique structures, smells, colours and living creatures that we as humans do not appreciate enough. Observing these unique features of nature as hundreds of random thoughts fly through my mind is a true gift for artistic inspiration.
I observe and sketch the observed in my sketchbook. I think about too many things, and write these ideas down in my journal. This together forms the "recipe" for a new work of art.
